Российская патриотическая пресса о вступлении США в первую мировую войну (конец 1916 – начало 1917 г.)
Аннотация
In the end of 1916 – beginning of 1917 the Russian patriotic press scrupulously followed every major event that contributed to the final decision of the U.S. joining Entente power: the presidential elections of 1916, the developments in submarine warfare and Mexican situation, W. Wilson’s maneuvering on international issues expressed in January 22, 1917 “Peace without victory” speech. President’s perception of postwar world’s order, his role in the peace settlement, the possible internal evolution of the U.S. under the stress of war – were the points of bitter discussion between the Russian liberal (such as “Rech'” and “Russkoe Slovo”) and conservative (“Novoe Vremiya”) newspapers and periodicals.
