Аннотация

The American Theme in the Scolarly and Public Activities of D.I. Kachanovski.: Attitudes of the Russian society towards The US at the end of the XVIII — first half of thę XIX centuries were reflected in the scholarly and public activities of D.I. Kachanovski (1827—1872) — the international lawyer and professor of the Khar' kov's University. He was the author of the scholarly biography of Daniel Webster, published in 1856. Kachanovski's interest in American history is interpreted as a manifestation of the hopes of reforms which were shared by a large group of Russian liberal-intellectuals during the first years of Alexander II's reign.
