The article is the extract of the book of the same author "The Radicalism of American Revolution" (New York, Vintage Books, 1993). Although the American Revolution was very different from other revolutions, it was no less radical, if we measure the radicalism not by the degree of economic deprivation suffered or by the number people killed but by the amount of social change that actually took place. Due to Revolution the American society has been radically transformed. By the early years of the XIX century the American Revolution has created the society fundamentally different from the colonial society of the XVIII century. The Americans became the most liberal, the most democratic, the most commercially-minded people in the world. The American Revolution has released the energy and enterprise of ordinary people and has created America's economic miracle of the early XIX century.
