The Mirror's Effect: The Magazine of "The William and Mary Quarterly" and Recent American Historiography.: The historical magazine can be considered as a "mirror", reflecting main trends of historical epistemology and historiography. Reviews publications of the magazine of the early American history and culture according to this effect. Analyzes how American historians have been writing early American history, how they have used theories and concepts of structuralism, Marxism and post-structuralism, how the "epidemiological revolution" of 1969 s and 1970 s had influenced the development of recent early American historiography till its current attempts to escape fragmentation and excessive scholarly specialization in its search for "new historical synthesis".
