Проблема кризиса цивилизации в американской общественной мысли (1940–1950-е годы)
Аннотация
Three eminent scholars — the social psychologist Eric Fromm, the historian of culture Louis Mumford, the sociologist Pitirim Sorokin, approaching the subject (“crisis of civilization”) from different angles and with different argumentation, came to identical conclusions: contemporary civilization, despite a backround of spectacular technical progress, was in mid-century overwhelmed by a fundamental crisis. Appalled by the destruction wrought by civilization, and apprehensive of its future, they nevertheless voice a firm belief in mankind’s ability to overcome the current crisis.
