Французские периодические издания о Соединенных Штатах (1830-1840-е годы)
Аннотация
In 1830-1840-s most of the French periodicals which made references to the United States (many authors of «La Revue des deux mondes», «La Revue britannique») spoke about «American exceptionalism», about the inapplicability of the democratic institutions elsewhere throughout the world, as well as about the American Revolution’s uniqueness. In future, as they thought, the «Anglo-Saxon civilization» will follow the European model. But some journals argued the similarities of the political processes taking place in the New World and in Western Europe. The roots of the French left intellectuals’ Anti-Americanism can be partly traced in the middle of the 19th century.
