Дядюшка Сэм: партнер или враг? Образ США в отечественной центральной прессе первой половины 1920-х годов
Аннотация
The article estimates the image of the U.S.A., created by the two leading Soviet newspapers — “Pravda” and “Izvestiya” — through the analysis of the prevailing tone (negative/unfavourable or positive/favourable) of the information devoted to the U.S. inner — and external policy. It also investigates the stereotypes that were the most frequently used to characterize the United States in the first half of the 1920-s. The analysis found out the certain evolution of the image of the U.S.A. in the 1920-s and its variable manysided character. “A cunning and greedy Uncle Sam” in the 1921-1922 became a “partner and possible friend” in the 1923, and then turned again into the class enemy. The information about the United States generally remained hostile and onesided. The main criticism was focused on its social and political system and the American government. There was no adequate information about the variety of the American life and its essential cultural values.
