Professor Michael Zuckerman seems to follow the same path that “new left” historian tried to go in the 1960s. In finding some more examples of grass-root contempt for and outrages against depraved gentlemen, cruel masters, despotic husbands, cold-hearted priestes, he wants to discover a much broader social base for radicalism in colonial America, and seems to generalize about it.
