Истоки внешнеполитической философии Вудро Вильсона
Аннотация
Woodrow Wilson’s political philosophy is of great importance for the analysis of origins of modern American diplomacy. The author’s aim was to reveal principles and ideas, which Wilson had brought into American foreign policy thought. The main methodological approach of this analysis was the comprehensive consideration of different factors (political, economical, ideological, psychological, etc.), which influenced his foreign policy views. The author shows that the formation of Wilson’s philosophy was connected with the world in which he lived: from the Calvinist religious training of his home to his scholar’s experience in Princeton University. The great element of Wilson’s foreign policy views was his conception of America and her mission. His belief that America had obligations to peace was largely formed by reflections upon the nations’s history. Wilson’s point was that the world was becoming interdependent and that, after Spanish American war, USA isolation had passed. The author concludes that many fundamental elements of thought which marked Wilson’s foreign policy had been determined before he entered the White House as President.
