After World War II the American public opinion was radically changed towards outright hostility to communism and to the Soviet Union. Suspicion and distrust caused wave of national hysteria and anticommunist propaganda. President Harry Truman played one of the key roles in that turn, which was, in fact, an important ferment in the Cold War start.
