Аннотация

Two principal tendencies of Russian poetry of 1850–1860 years used American subjects in accordance with their creative programs and necessities of society. In the epoch of Great Reforms the poets of “Nekrasov’s school” and the poets–unmaskers took American images as the example of civil progress, as the signs of that time and also for censorship reasons. The representatives of “pure poetry” rejected in the modern USA the development of capitalism, the values of bourgeois society.
