Джон Тейлор как политический мыслитель
Аннотация
An article deals with a personality and heritage of John Taylor (1753–1824), Virginian, “philosopher of Jeffersonian Democracy”. Tracing the development of his thought from the early pamphlets against Hamiltonian System (1793) to the last speeches in the U.S. Senate against “American System” by Henry Clay (1824), author tries to highlight its distinctive features. When quoting Taylor, author insists on translation based on the meaning of the text as a whole, and demonstrates that literal, word-by-word translation would deprive Taylor’s texts from any sense.
