Аннотация
French political philosopher Alexis de Tocqueville (1805–1859) has visited American frontier (1831) and has stated about it many judgments which can be considered as the original conception in many respects different from the Frontier Thesis of Frederick Turner. The article raises the question about existence of Tocqueville’s tradition of interpretation of the American frontier in the French socio-political thought.
