Вклад Теодора Рузвельта в заключение портсмутского мирного договора 1905 г. между Россией и Японией

The article examines efforts of President Theodore Roosevelt to conclude the peace treaty between Russian Empire and Japan in 1905 in Portsmouth. The author describes the negotiations, which put an end to the Russo-Japanese war, showing that belligerents were going to break off negotiations, but President Roosevelt’s actions allowed to find compromise conditions acceptable to both sides. So President Roosevelt played a decisive role in achieving of peace. The author also emphasizes that efforts of President Roosevelt were underestimated by Russian historians. In his reply to Professor Pipes’ article the Russian historian Prof. Shatsillo disputes the claim that Russian historians underestimated the role of President Roosevelt in the conclusion of Portsmouth peace, which put an end to the Russo-Japanese war. In his reply to Prof. Shatsillo the author disagrees, that contemporary Russian historiography has significantly revised the role of Theodore Roosevelt in the conclusion of Portsmouth peace treaties.
