The document from the Piotr Dubrowski manuscript collection deals with the period of Anglo-French rivalry in North America during the Seven Years’ War. Its author, baron de Dieskau, a commander-in-chief of French troops, was sent to Canada in 1755. His attack on an English fort in the Lake Champlain region was defeated and he was taken captive. This imaginary dialog was written during his stay in England where he had spent several years in prison.
