Надежды и иллюзии двух северных цивилизаций: становление русско-канадских отношений (1900–1917)
Аннотация
After celebration at May 30, 2000 the centenary of Russian-Canadian consular relations we look for more authentic information concerning the history of first direct official links between two northern countries. The principal task of this article consists in elucidating how important the first phase of bilateral ties was for understanding of the contemporary Russian-Canadian relations. Other significant questions emerging from the considered period are the following. Who in reality has contributed much to the comprehension of both countries’ specificity? Was the role of Russian consulates to Canada as a source of information about domestic Canadian events sufficient of not? Was the fear of Russian in some parts of Canadian community and mass-media real or false? Can we trace the elements of neighbourliness and friendship in that period?
