Аннотация
In this article the author analyses US policy and public opinion toward Russian Empire during the period of European revolutions of the middle of the 19th century. Basing his research on the unpublished correspondence of American diplomats and contemporary magazines and newspapers opinions the author comes to the conclusion that public opinion and ideology had not yet defined U.S. foreign policy, as well as they did not define Russian foreign policy of that period.
